Jorgensen's use of the circle for his recent Orbit series of glass bowls is a departure from the free-form shapes he has made before.

The new bowls have been designed to balance at an angle to highlight the orbits of pin marks.

These marks have been created by positioning pins in concentric circles in a Reconfigurable Tooling Device (RPT), heating flat glass discs and letting gravity force the glass through the series of apertures. The settings of the pin orbits are unique to each
individual bowl.

Whilst the production of the Orbit series is through analogue glass-shaping techniques, digital design and fabrication tools have been fundamental in enabling the construction of the RPT system employed to produce the bowls.
