We are delighted to have received an unprecedented number of Ander Gunn’s limited edition photographs. A few have been seen in the gallery in the past but some have never been exhibited or printed before. One such is Tin Miners South Crofty 1975 – an image of Cornwall in a bygone age. The dates of the photographs range from 1960 to 2015 and are on show in Battersea now.
Since the 50’s Ander Gunn has taken black and white photographs with an analogue camera developing his own prints. he started in London photographing actors and authors including his poet brother Thom Gunn. He moved to Cornwall in the 60’s, photographing many well-known artists living there such as Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Patrick Heron, Roger Hilton, Rose Hilton and Karl Weschke. He has lived in Cornwall on and off ever since, photographing miners, artists, landscape and the sea.
Ander Gunn’s work will be included in Abstract Allies curated by Tim Sayer MBE and Lizzie Collins showing at Zuleika Gallery, London SW1 Y6BU 6 – 29 March 2019.
