Moorhouse is interested in the way colour can alter spatial perception, a phenomenon she first noticed in agricultural landscapes in Wales. In 2017 Moorhouse was included in Compton Verney’s exhibition Seurat to Riley: The Art of Perception, Pattern, Pointillism and Op Art (also at Holburne Museum, Bath). In 2018 Moorhouse created her Colourblocks series, both as individual pieces and wall mounted pieces. In this innovative and arresting work the viewer is invited to move and to look into the interiors, to see lines connect through negative space and across the bowls.

While investigating the relationships between colour and spatial perception Moorhouse developed the use of a laser level to achieve the straight lines on the interior and exterior surfaces of her bowls. the edges are taped and she has hand painted the colour, building up the layers to achieve opacity and highly saturated colour.
